Virtual Reality, Drones and Smart Cars weren’t the only thing leading the news from this years’ Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Wearables and Health & Fitness Products made many of the top headlines. Exhibiting in the growing Fitness & Technology Marketplace were two well-known commercial fitness equipment manufacturers: Life Fitness & TechnoGym. Both companies are continuing to expand upon their open platforms to integrate fitness apps, wearables and data into an overall connected fitness experience.

Life Fitness showed off their open API by featuring the app, RunSocial. This IOS app can be viewed on Apple devices which can be connected to any Life Fitness treadmill with a Discover console. When connected to the treadmill, the RunSocial app will display your speed and have the treadmill’s elevation controlled by the app.

Matt Elsesser from Life Fitness, described the app as, “adding a social element allowing people to run courses all over and with friends in different countries.”

Additional information on the app can be found at: https://www.runsocial.com/

Technogym previewed the world’s first music interactive treadmill with the “Running Music” function that detects a runner’s rhythm and creates a personalized interactive music soundtrack. Utilizing a user’s own playlist, the treadmill takes into account the number of steps taken per minute and selects the appropriate song. Running Music is available via the TechnoGym mobile app / Mywellness cloud platform and UNITY console.
